Does anyone know of a DIY or other air conditioner cutoff system that will shutoff the air conditioner at WOT? Besides Hondata, that is.

to my knowledge the stock ecu should do that.

... except if it's been "hot-wired" to run a Mugen ECU?

 

Logic tells me yes. I know the ecu shuts off the alternator to prevent overcharging.
So with that in mind, why not shutting off the ac to keep it from being overdriven?
I'll research it some more....

 

Is this on ITR's or All hondas? I know my Friend was dumb enough to run his AC on a 99 si and his time was .3-.4 slower at the track.

 

Thanks Steve! I'll have to check that out next time I have a passenger to work the AC button and can do a 5th gear pull to maximize the effect.

Does it cut off only at WOT or somewhere below that?

My right pointer finger does a nice job turning the AC off when i need to. Yeah the whole "does the AC turn off at WOT?" question is one that not many people know the exact answer to. Im curious to hear what sgT finds.

 

OMG.... I just use my finger to turn off the A/C when I'm going to drive fast. Not that my A/C works good anyway... bums.

Usually I don't remember until I'm half way past a semi on a two lane road<LOL>. That's why I was looking for something that would shut it off at WOT.

Hate remembering when its too late.
