Icon2 What Should I Use On This Steering Wheel?

I recently found an Acura Vigor steering wheel for the low : )

Unfortunately, even after lots of cleaning; the SRS portion of the steering wheel is highly faded. What should I use to restore the color of this steering wheel?

I'm thinking about VHT Vinyl Paint. However, I'm not sure if it would work on the SRS portion of the steering wheel since it's not leather (I don't think).

Any help?

Paint? Why would you paint it? Just get yourself some non-greasy, non-aerosol pleather threatment, and start rubbing.

Would that work on the Airbag portion of the steering wheel? And could you post a picture of stuff I should be looking for?

hmm.. maybe tape off the leather and use a scotchbrite pad on the old faded vinyl to make everything one color. If you want it like new, id suggest looking for a replacement.

Paint only gives marginal results and usually looks... well, painted.

Ever wandered through the cleaning section of a parts store? This isn't some super secret stuff I'm talking about. Meguiars, 3M, Mother, they all make something that'll work for you.

You could also use a dye. That's basically all stain is but the solvents in stain might be a bit harsh on the pleather.

Buying black dye and making your own water based solution with it should let you dye it back to black without issue.

Would be better than paint but probably not color match as it would be a fresh strong black unlike the outside rim that is old and mildly faded.

Do NOT paint it, you will be in for disappointment. If I recall correctly, there is a Honda-branded airbag that will fit your Vigor wheel, that right there might be an option for you. From an Accord or Prelude.
