What does the dipstick state?

Dexron III works fine, smoother shifting than Dexron II.

Thanks, I never thought about it being on the dipstick. Anyway,I thought the transmission fluid was supposed to be checked with the engine off. I checked it with the engine warm and running and it took 3/4 of a quart to get it to barely get in the cross hatch area. My transmission fluid looks terrible.I have always heard that if it has not been changed and you change it your transmission will tear up. How true is that?

Check cold and engine off, No it will not hurt to change the tranny oil.

Go down to Honda and buy Honda auto transmission fluid. Its one of the few things you should ALWAYS buy from Honda.

Carquest also sells Honda transmission fluid. In the Honda bottle. There is no difference in price, but if it's on a weekend or Carquest is closer, then it may be better to buy it there.
