The top end for the 4.929 FD and average gas mileage on both. Oh yeah what is the average on the stock ITR tranny too?

I get 8 mpg with a stock ITR tranny. Gas mileage is mainly a result of the driving style.

Figure out the gearing here.

Thank you.

4.929-136.3 top speed
4.785-140.4 top speed
4.440-152.7 top speed

Now with normal driving. City and Highway about what do you guys get as in gas mileage? And please let em know if it is stock or 4.785 or the 4.929 final drive. I want to get a ITR tranny and am gonna order one through Brian on here but I want to know the difference in gas mileage between the 3. Any help you guys can offer will be greatly appreciated.

strange I have the ATS final and hit 139 with about 500rpm to go until redline. Maybe my speedo is off or something. But I really doesn't bother me. I only see those speeds doing REALLY illegal stuff and I'm not even sure there is a road coarse that is long enough to hit those speeds with our cars, so therefore WHO CARES or why does it matter that much. IMOP, top speed should have nothing to do with your decision on changing your final, its all about entry and exit gearings (being in the right gear at the righ time, longer and using that gear more efficently)

his numbers are pretty accurate. about 1 mph low. Unless someone is reading something other than the stock speedo to verify I would say your speedo is wrong not the website.

I have used 2 differnt websites and a couple of spread sheets all from different sources and they are all with in a few decimals.

sorry to butt in on someone elses post, but does anyone know how fast you would be going if you hit the rev limiter in 5th (set at 8200) with a euro itr box and 195/50 15 tyres?

speedo read aprox 151, although it only goes to 145 (euro vti civic)

cheers

About 260 km/h, 160 mph with 4.785 JDM final drive and JDM tranny.
195/55/15 tires with euro rims.

Oops: I am a We Todd. I see this was calculated at a Web site. But it's wrong! LOL...
I'd bet the speedo is off vs the math. It *is* a simple mathmatical formula afterall.

edit: excluding drag, etc of course

http://www.autocrossing.com/cgi-bin/gearcalc.cgi

using this website
with 8500rpm redline
and 22.8" wheels

topspeed is 138, go to tirerack.com and check the specs for your tire, and what the actual diameter is

gas mileage should not matter for these mods, if you want to save money, dont buy some much crap for your car...
figure if you buy a 200 dollar mod, that will pretty much wipe out any difference in saving money from going from 25-27mpg to 21-23mpg; or whatever it might end up equating to

I seriously don't think that the top speed should be an issue whatsoever when choosing your final drive. It isn't like there is any track or contest where that will be an issue...the only thing that should matter at all is the gas mileage that you get when you are doing freeway driving...becuase that is really the only place that the final drive makes an adverse impact.

True, but 5th gear doesn't matter with a JDM set-up as the JDM car has identical final gearing in 5th gear. So if done properly there isn't a difference on the highway.

"Done properly"?

I'd NEVER install the GSR 4th and 5th to lower cruising rpms.

If cruising rpm matters to you that much, don't change your FD.

Spacing out your gears makes no sense at all.

Actually, with a 4.7 you should regularly bump 5th rev limiter on long straights if you're moving through the last set of turns leading out onto the front straight.

Dude why do you care about top end? Unless your racing on the salt flats it shouldn't matter. If all else fails "I need nos two of them by tonight." j/k haha

As usual, I agree with Reid.

Did you buy your R because you are concerned with good gas mileage? No. It happens to get reasonable gas mileage around town, anyways. And why are you changing FD's if you are so concerned with mileage? Changing to the JDM or ATS FD doesn't change the rpm's that drastically. It's not like you are cruising around on the highway in vtec.

Swapping out the 4th and/or 5th gears with a jdm/ats fd is very counterproductive.

With the JDM FD and my lead foot driving through windy mountain roads I average 25-28mpg, get a little better when I'm driving on the highway.
