I have a 97 del sol automatic with d16y8 that needs a new engine. I have 2 questions, first I bought a complete d15b7 with manual transmission on cl that was very cheap. Will this be a direct fit to replace to old d16y8? And second how much extra work would it be to change from auto to manual trans since it came with the trans anyways and the old auto trans had 300k on it

 

Did you check your state laws about swapping on older engine into a newer car?

There are guides that show you how its done. The difficulty level will vary depending on your ability to understand wiring and custom work needed to be done.

 

HA I didn't really need a lecture, just wanted some info if it was a direct fit. I actually have three other del sols with d15b7 engines so I figured why not buy it for 100$. Just thought if it could go right in and replace the d16y8 it would work out good.

 

Any ****** d-series from 92-00 will be capable of being swapped into another d-series 92-00. The issue here is the auto to 5spd swap dumb ****.
