Default Help with seats for 89 dx

hey guys, i'm pretty new to EFs, but im helping my friend buy his tomorrow and i'm gonna help him build it up for this summer. we're thinkin about replicating some of my setup in his 89 hatch (boosted z6). we looked at the car early this week, and i noticed the guy had eg seats in the hatch. wat i want to kno is, what other seats will fit in the dx perfectly, and which ones will require a little bit of modification? i was thinkin if the eg rails fit, i could fit in del sol seats as well, but the widths may be different when they are on the actual seats. oh well, i dont know much about these cars yet. hopefully i will know them as well as my sol wen im done. thanks alot guys.

the only seats that fit in an 89 dx are 88-89 civic seats (Si, dx, std)...that is all. you can put in some other honda seats, but usually 1 or 2 bolts don't line up to the factory pattern.

if you search on this topic you should get a lot of results.

Default Rword

you can put in del sol seats with some modification like welding. all you have to do is switch the rails, ive actually done it and was pretty easy if you access to a welder. other than that, just some 88-89 seats will fit. My friend had a 90 and put 92 Si seats in his hatch, and i dont think he had any modification.

You're right,92-95 seats WILL fit in a 90-91 hatch,I had some recently, but traded them for some 90-93 Integra seats. The 92-95 seats will bolt up...but only 3 holes will line up with the holes in the floor. You have to enlarge the last hole on the track, usually the inner rear one (next to the console).Same goes for 90-93 Integra seats, but you have to swap outer tracks w/your Civic tracks. Also,I believe the holes in the floorboard on 88-89 are different than 90-91.

i just put 91 si seats in my 89 dx. the inside rails bolt up and line up perfect. the out side rails were a little tricky. the bottom of the seats are the same, except for the mounts for where the rail mounts. i chisled the rail brackets off the bottom of the 89 dx seats and bolted them to the 91 seat bottom and put the rail on and they lined up perfect. i spent about 35-45 mins on this, air chisel is great.

neone have pics of their rails? cuz i looked at the 5g civic seats that are installed in the 4g dx and im pretty sure the rails are custom. or at least the outer ones are. the inner ones look like the holes pretty much line up, but a longer bolt was used to secure the rear mounting point. the outside rails fit on the front but for the rear there is a bracket running perpendicular to the rail that secures into a hole in the middle of the floor pan. i couldnt tell if the rails were original 4g or 5g, cuz i had nothing to compare them to. hopefully i can get some pics next week wen we take delivery of the car
we would really like to get some corbeaus, but my friend really can't afford it and we're trying to spend more money on getting the swap and turbo. neone selling any used seats that mite work for us?
thanks alot guys. i think i'll be spending a little more of my time over here

I have '93 hatch seats in my '89 DX hatch and let me tell you 1 olt lines up. I had to make custom brckets to use the stock '89 rails to bolt to the floor and adapt to the '93 seats. the rear seat bottom need minir mods to fit, easy to see what they were. but no I don't have pictures. took me an afternoon and no I couldn't find any decent '89 seats after looking a few months. Had no choice.

the outer rail on '93 civic seats is 4inchs further outboard then the '89 DX seats were. 4" is nowhere close. it takes more than chisling off and bolting rails.
