b series tranny confusion
So I've got a question and sorry if its already been covered, but I couldn't find an exact answer. I have an em1 with a JDM b16. I was told that the car had a ctr tranny. When I look at my trans, it says s4c but the Vin on it does say em1. So I'm guessing I have a regular SI tranny? Or do I have a ctr tranny? Thanks.
You have a regular SI trans, iirc only USDM trans have VINs and the CTR was never offered in the US.
Also does the VIN on the trans match the VIN on the Dash or Firewall ?

Easy way to find out. Pop the axles and halfshaft out, and look through the hole. Can you see straight through, or is there a bar taking up half the hole? If you can see straight through, it has an LSD, and is more likely to have CTR internals. If there's a bar taking up half the hole, it's an open diff, and more likely to be just a plain old USDM Civic SI transmission.

The VIN says EM1...so at least the case is S4C EM1. Its going to be difficult to determine what internals are in it. But...the EM1 and CTR had the same gearing. The CTR trans had a helical LSD. So...if your trans has a LSD, it will drive like a CTR trans.
