98 civic ex - clicking coming from the engine bay
Is it only on hard turns? if so, then most likely CV axle. Does it do it while idling, while driving or both? If, driving only it could be a small tree branch or other debris (plastic wheel well cover) that is hitting a wheel or axle. If it's strictly emanating from the motor as mentioned before it could be low oil, timing belt or perhaps your timing belt cover loose and hitting the timing belt. I am not sure if the alternator tensioner pulley would make that sound, they usually just squeal when they start to go bad.

It's a fairly simple DIY if you want to tackle it yourself or with a friend that has some auto experience. There's many threads and even youtube videos on how-to. Valve lash should be done as routine maintenance every 20-30k miles, My guess would be 1.5 hours labor time for a shop to do it and the only part you might need is a valve cover hasket + Honda-bond (or similar) sealant.. so, around $100 to $150 maybe.
