just bought a 2004 s2000 with 26,xxx miles. bone stock, im the 4th owner. 2/3 owners had the car just for a year, the 2nd owner had it the longest putting only couple thousand miles a year on the car. its really nice, im new to RWD


i have an integra that i been working on for the past few years and thought its at the point where i just cant risk driving it anymore. so i went out and bought the ap2.

love every bit of it, tight suspension, hid, the interior is beautiful, the power is great and i have no complaints whats so ever.


i know what i want to do with it but its not a forsure thing. i plan on finishing my integra build and track it, the first reason why i bought the car 3 years ago.


f2b swaped with b16a tranny, progress cs 2 coilovers, 23mm rear type r sway bar with asr sub setup, buddy clup front and rear camber kit, buddy club front lower ball joints, drilled/slotted rotors all around. type r interior, type r piping, gsr shell with gsr rims, si vtec lip. looks just about stock besides the interior and motor. great car and great power. more plans for it later but just loving my ap2 for now :]

Totally different animal. An integra is an easy car to drive, well.. any FWD car is easy to drive in that case. The s2000 isn't such a tame car to drive. It's very smooth and silky, then BAMMMMMM f**k you. Just like that.

 

Sounds like a nice find with that millage! Be sure to keep leather conditioner on the driver’s seat side bolster.

 

No it's not just like that. An old 91 MR2 Turbo is just like that. An S2000 is fine until you're driving past your limits, which is pretty much every car - when at the limit, things happen just like that.

If you're scared to drive the teg on the street how are you going to beat on it at the track?

 

not afraid as in driving it to the limits, im afraid of risking it anymore. the area i live in has a lot of idiot drivers racing down the mainstreet. every night i hear someone revving, or racing, bikes or car. a lot of cops in the area so i figured it got to the point where it was a smart thing to get another car as a daily, and ididnt just want any car.. i wanted a car that was just as fun/as fast as my integra, if not more than that. and the ap2 was perfect choice.


im afraid of getting pulled over and having all my hard work taken away from me because of the modifications. ive decided to leave it as a dedicated track car, it runs, runs great but saving up for a itr tranny and gonna pull the motor this summer to do more work.


and so far, im loving the ap2, it is VERY VERY smooth. like butter on a hot skilit, i love it. rainy days have been good to me but i treat it with respect. i treat both my cars with respect. i keep it very well maintained and up to par.


i understand its a different car from my integra and i felt the difference first time i did the test drive.


what cleaner/conditioner do you guys recommend for the top? dont want it fading. as well as for leather treatment. i dont drive with the top down during the day, dont want the sun getting to it.

As much as i love the top down, its rare that i do. Mostly at night anyhow, afterwork is when i put it down

 

i use a 3M marine vinyl conditioner/cleaner on my roof - once every year or 2 (i'm mostly under cover though).

 

I removed my roof, is how I cleaned it.

 

As far as getting in over your head with the S2000...the AP2 is a lot more tame. S2000's drive weird even if you are used to RWD cars. There's so much sensitivity to lifting off the throttle mid-corner.

My first car ever was a 240SX that I later SR swapped. I have never NOT had a RWD car.

In a S2000, my method for tricky, increasing radius corners at the track is to figure out a entry speed that allows me to coast down slowly (if at all) while leaving the throttle cracked. It's kind of like controlling the engine braking strength. A tiny bit of upward foot movement means the car will likely start to come around. If you can predict that, then the car probably won't actually spin even if you do get in over your head and have to lift out. But predicting it comes from driving a S2000 a bunch of times.

People crash them on the street because they come in too hot and then try to back out of it mid corner when they realize what they've gotten themselves into. This is true with almost ANY RWD car...but again, the S2000 is more sensitive than most to this type of dumbassery.

My method for tricky, increasing radius corners while on track with a FWD car is to go all in, lift, then smash the gas back down when the car begins to rotate. So easy, any goddamn ******* can do it. It worked every time with my ITR. Minimal effort.

My method for those type of corners on the street is to just roll thru them slowly and not hit any curbs.

 

AP2s are a little easier to drive at its limits than the tail happy AP1s

 

HEY you were right.. in aug I took a downhill turn/connecting ramp to another freeway and right at the exit the car lost its rear end and I went into a guard rail.


insurance took care of it and I took it to the guys we deal with at the dealership I work for, and I got to say it looks 100X better than when I first bought it.

they were able to talk my insurance into allowing NEW OEM parts :D

 

Yea, it's really sketchy mid corner/post corner. It takes a good amount of seat time to really know how the car reacts, and ideally you wouldn't want there to be any guard rails around lol.

Also, good going on the OEM parts, I wouldn't allow anything else. I'd throw a fit if they put some ebay garbage on my car to "fix" it and try to make an extra dollar.
