Question about HondaCare
Hey everyone,
I'm new to this forums so I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but here it goes. So I purchased a new 2014 Honda Accord in the summer and recently, I hit a really big pothole and it dislodged my bumper and scraped it really bad and also scraped the tire. I popped the bumper back into place but the problem now is that theres a scrape on the tire (it's not that bad only a surface chunk got scraped off so not really worried about that) and the bottom right of the bumper is scraped up pretty bad. When I purchased HondaCare, they said they would cover damage when I hit a pothole but they only specifically mentioned a popped tire. Do I have to assume that they don't cover damage done to the bottom right bumper? (The scrapes are visible when standing and looking at it)
And if they don't cover it, should I just try to sand it down myself and apply paint and retouch it? Or should I take it to a shop?
Thanks!

Pretty sure the tire warranty covers "road Hazards" so it would be covered.
OP, I think you mean there is a chunk out of the wheel not the tire. no way Honda is covering the body work. That's an insurance claim.
As to the painting, it's hard to say if you can do it. Very minor scrapes can be sanded and painted if you know how to blend paint into the undamaged area. And there are places that can sell the proper paint and clear coat in rattle cans. I've done this on bumpers and they came out great. But I had a FIL that owned a body shop for 40 years and learned from him. Remember bumper paint should have a flex additive to prevent cracking.

This would be an insurance claim. Whether it is covered under collision, or comprehensive depends on your insurance policy, which can mean a big difference in deductible. The stock tires, when you buy a car, are not usually covered for road hazards.
