D15b 3stage vtec issues in 2000 civic
Hey guys I need some guidance I got a lot of bad fix it advice...
I own a 2000 civic cx hatch I bought a 3 stage d15b
The car is obd2b
The engine is obd2a
The ecu I got with the motor was a p2j
My first issues were
no fuel pump on start up
No rad fan after warming up
No speedo
So I ran a separate power to the fan and pump... Runs fine sorta
It became obvious I need to sort out the harness I have bought an obd2b>obd2a conv jumper I was told I could swap the harness for a 99si harness.... Bull****
So now I'm looking for the appropriate fix obd2a eng
Obd2b vehicle??? Any help is appreciated other than telling me I should have swapped a b16b which I'm regretting right now

It's a North American 2000 civic cx hb obd2b
The eng is a jdm d15b stage vtec obd2a
The original harness from the car was damaged
The original harness from the jdm motor is intact except
I was given bad advice that I could swap it for a 99si harness...
Don't know if that's wrong because I've just found out I was sold
A different harness after removing the jdm harness...fml
The p2j ecu is operational I don't doubt that it was running ok
I bought an obd2b-obd2a conversion jumper so I could swap the harness and plug it into the p2j but can't find an appropriate harness that will cooperate with the
Sensor style plugs ???
So what I'm thinking of doing is swapping back the orig harness from the d15 3sv getting another jumper obd2a-obd2b splice my dash plug into that harness and then use the other jumper b-a to plug into the ecu ...a shortcut of sorts
P2j is obd2a
The 3stage vtec jdm I have I'm sure is 96-98
I greatly appreciate any and all input guys

It's the one that came with the motor I finish at 4 it's 940 now I'll repost the complete code around then but I'm positive it's obd2a which used the d port obd2b does not

We'll lets sort you out right quick buddy
obd2a uses ports A,C,D on the ecu
Obd2b uses ports A,B,C on the ecu
Further sure they will plug in the hole because it's an obd2 ecu
However it won't work!

Its clearly written on the ecu what ecu he has and if all he wants to say is that its an obd2a, so he it.
OP needs to run wires to the ecu plugs as well for 2nd stage and for the egr and egr control solenoid. There is a thread here on ht that has all required wires.

One of the better ones, although not complete (maybe he gave up? You could PM him?)

I would assume if you could pick up an HX engine harness you'd be more than halfway there, however you have a 2000 Civic and all HX's are wired OBD2A so maybe not.

I'm going to try my dual jumper idea put the original obd2a jdm engine harness back on and on the obd2a- obd2b pick up the dash plug(obd2b) and splice it into the jumper plug then use the obd2b-obd2a jumper to the ecu seems a lot easier than going back to the jack a** who sold me a 99dx harness not the so in the first place think I'm done dealing with them and there's not much in Edmonton for import parts annnnd I'm def not playing in the junkyard at -30*c
Not the prettiest but hell if it works it's less expensive than a new harness and it fits under the dash I'm down to try it I'll post a couple pics after I get the part off eBay if it works
Find a 99-00 ex 5spd engine harness, wire in 2nd stage and 3rd stage, wire in egr and egr control solenoid and you're golden. I'm not sure what you're plans for with the exhaust but that will be all up to you.
So I tried the jumper harness splice and it sorted out the fuel pump issue but I still have no speedo changed the cluster also changed the vss??? Still no dice the cluster is reading rpm fuel oil and coolent temp but still no speedo ??? Any suggestions?
Which VSS part # are you using?
I went to the recycle yard and grabbed two vss one from an Acura 1.6l el and a 96 hatch like mine the one from the el doesn't fit the same and the one from the hatch fits but doesn't read at the cluster
Well it's a new cluster, and everything on it is working except the speedo, which leads me to believe it's not reading the VSS because it either can't or the sensor is malfunctioning. I suppose it could still be wired up wrong in the splice process but it seems unlikely he would just have an issue with speedo and no other Gauges if the wiring was incorrect. So lack of VSS input seemed the next logical step.
