Default 1989 cdm SI hb

Happy holiday guys, just wanted to get inputs from you guys on this particular honda. I'm not seeing a lot of cdm models for this particular year. Thinking about taking it to a honda dealer for appraisal for insurance purpose. It's in cherry condition, bought it from original owner who had it since 1989. Has every option, but is missing the original floor mats for the front, missing a mudflap in the rear and a few other things. Somewhat easy parts to find... I even found the 2 sets of optional wheels for that year only. Thinking about restoring as most people would do mods on them. Soon as I get some miles on this forum I'll be able to send some pics. Only question I have at the moment is how rare is this 1989 cdm Honda Civic hatchback SI? Mint condition/unmolested

My insurance guy told me based on NADA and condition that replacement on mine in the condition it's in would be around $6000-$6200. 1989 Canadian Si. As far as I heard the Canadian part doesn't mean much. Don't know if that's correct or not.

The day an insurance company gave anyone 6k for a 1988 Civic is the day I'll eat my hat.

Well, I know I would never get that selling it, but both KBB and NADA high retail is in the 6k range in excellent condition. Between that and what my insurance agent told me I'm pretty sure if someone totaled it tomorrow I would get somewhere close, although more often than not you have to fight with the insurance company a bit. I hope to never find out to be honest.

If you think you will get that kind of value on regular insurance you are nuts. Classic car/agreed value insurance will cover it though.

My 94 CX was hit and it was in near mint condition (missing nothing) BUT insurance only claimed it as fair/good condition. I was still offered $4200 (totaled) for it without fighting and not including coverage for the aftermarket stuff. I guess it's not a far stretch to get somewhere in the neighborhood of $5k but man $6k I would've said take it it's yours LOL.

Few (very small) hail damage on the hood roof top. Found 2 extremely small rust spots- driver door hinge, bottom lip of rear hatch about 8"-10" to the left of the keyhole. Showed it to my buddies as they are ef fanatics. They were telling me that they found 2 sets of '89 ef SI optional wheels for that year only at the junkyard. So naturally I snatched them the next morning. Will have pics for those tomorrow hopefully. Researched it online about these wheels and turns out that they found on preludes and accord LXI. Came in 2...maybe 3 different color options..? Silver and bronze that I know of...correct me if I'm wrong please. Last thing I want to do is send out the wrong info.

One of the reasons why I'm looking into this whole insurance thing is to get an idea for value onviosly, but I have intention of restoring this hatch back to its glory days. Why not...right? So, I'll be documenting as I make progress. If anybody is curious, paid $1,700 for it...I'm very please with that purchase price...

At the moment I've picked up some oem parts through honda dealer and some online source.
Just seems like my very purchase on parts should be at a honda dealer...
Parts as follow:

Honda dealer:
-valve cover gasket
-spark plug tube gasket
-spark plugs

Ebay:
-oem radio antenna

Napa parts
-Castrol engine oil 10W/30
-premium oil filter
