Default 91 si motor options

New to hondas, have read over the FAQ section, few times.

Other then spending $900 + (from what I can find) for a low-ish milage "JDM" 1.6 engine, are there options for engine replacement equal to or cheaper than the 1.6?

Will very minimal effort that is.

Any 1.6 civic to year 99 would fit. Would need to use your intake and exhaust. Plug n play

Just to be thorough, any 1.6 block and head, using my intake and exhaust, all sensors and ecu will work? What about a d15 black and head from the same year?

Yes it will work. There are small modifications need to certain areas depending on exact engine but nothing you can't overcome with some creativity and/or simple tools.

I rebuilt my engine for less than $900. new pistons (pg6b $75), rings(NPR $25), bearings(Clevite $60), then machine shop ($300 for lower end assembly) and a fresh rebuilt head ($60 off local forum), and about $175 in gaskets, seals and pumps. A few more odds and ends and i was right at $900, and so far so great.

Any 1.6L motor, unless it is a 1.6L out of a 1988-91 Civic/CRX, will be a VTEC motor, and although not that hard, there is some wiring and some pinning on the ECU you will need to do to run VTEC.

The D16A6 in your car is a nice little motor. I'd stick with a rebuilt or remanufactured D16A6 if it were my car.
