I purchased a Benen Industries front strut tower bar today and am having a little bit of a fitment problem. it fits perfect to the stock strut tower holes but is about 3/8 of an inch away from where it mounts to the firewall. It seems like there should be a spacer? or something that goes behind it? its hitting on where the vin number is engraved to the firewall. theres a spot there that juts out.. anyone have any ideas? or have this on their car and know what to do?

 

Did you get the bar new? If so, where? I've been looking for one, but don't want to spend an arm+leg.

ok, my bad , its a shock tower brace... and if i had a digicam i would take some pics....... but seeing as though i dont no pics. you could probably try getting a sheet of 1/4 inch thick aluminum and then making a spacer plate for it.

 

Maybe jack the car up from the front http://www.tornactive.com has em at $150 ish or something.

 

yeah, try installing strut tower bar with the car jacked up. that might do the trick.

where did you get it from? how much?

 

i bought it from a local shop here in milwaukee. Rev tek motorsports and it cost 185.

 

god damn it, of course they come out with it after I bought my spoon front strut bar a couple months ago. I have the Benen rear strut bar and rear lower tie bar but i didnt think a front strut bar would be coming out anytime soon, damn myself.

That bar looks nice, Im thinking of selling my Spoon bar now to buy that one

 

The Benen bar is illegal for SCCA-Sanctionned autocrossing in the following classes:

- Stock
- SM
- STS
- STX
- SM2
- Street Prepared

Along with anything else lower than Prepared that I may have forgotten.


Keep that in mind before you all plunk down the cashola.
