So i aquired a gsr front strut bar. My car, a 92 hatch. I have seen hundreds of strut bars on all types of cars, but to my surprise, a gsr "strut bar" doesnt connect to the struts. It fits quite nicely into the two holes to the outersides of the top of the strut and looks fine, but now whats it called. It doesnt touch the struts and im 100% sure that it did crap for the performance part, but since it doesnt touch the struts, can it still be called a strut bar???

I know this is a dumb topic and it will probablly get locked for not being tech related, but blah it was bothering me

It still is a strut bar b/c it bolts up to the "strut" towers.

their names kinda just became strut bars because they started attaching it to struts. same purpose... a lot of racing rules prohibited the use of chassis stiffening devices in the past so people welded bars in an "x" on the under side of their hoods for chassis support... just a little useless info...

So since the bar doesnt really touch the struts, but it does touch the strut tower, its still a strut bar. But in reality it only tightens up the frame, not the suspension.

Anyone else with imput???

And since this is a discussion, it could be moved to GDD.

It would still essentially be connecting the struts, just indirectly. It ties the strut mounting points. It's all the same idea.
