i have a 93 honda del sol. i was driving it and when i went to down shift i would rev up but not move. so im thinking clutch or transmission problem or fluid is low but i checked the fluid and it is at safe levels. what i dont understand is that while is idling i cant can stick it in gar with out the clutch and it wont die. So pplease help me i need this fixed asap cuz its my daily driver.

 

So you can engage the gear without the clutch and it does nothing?

 

yes doesnt die or anything so im thinking it could possiably be the linkage??????

Check whether an axle popped out of the differential.

 

ronj i did check and it is in. that was the first thing i checked cuz of my bag system.

 

Sometimes it's easy to miss. The gap between the CV joint and transmission should be relatively small - about 1/8" or so. Post pictures.

What makes you come to this^ incorrect conclusion?

 

because the clutch isnt disengaging completely

 

I've seen you post nothing that proves this^ is true. The clutch is disengaged when the pedal is fully depressed.

I think what Ron's saying is that the clutch operation could be completely fine, it's the joint not making correct contact with the trans that is causing the symptoms you are experiencing. Could be the clutch but since you said you don't even have to engage the clutch for the car to not die, it could be the trans is spinning freely and the joint is not making proper connection. So it could be a combo of the two and both should be checked

You clearly don't understand your car's drivetrain. As I've said, this^ is fully consistent with an axle popping out of the differential.

 

Post pictures to substantiate. Also note that the axle can break off inside the differential.

 

now that sounds plausable. how much play would be in the axle if it broke off

 

Everything I've said is plausible because nothing you've posted backs up your claims.

Remove the axle to inspect. Before you do, post pictures of the gap between the CV axle and differential.

yea dude, even though the pic is small as hell you can still see that it's not butting up where it's supposed to.
