Icon2 Can bad itr headlight wiring cause ecu to fry?

I was working on my friends teg fixing a bad front swap to ITR. it has a ls/vtech motor. i had to remove the headlights and took a picture of how the wires were connected so i wouldn't get them confused later. when i was done i wired the lights back up and when i would turn them on the car would die. the battery was bad on the car and i figured this was the issue. we replaced the battery and it was still running bad, it started backfiring, vtech wouldn't kick in, etc. he called a friend of his to come check it out and he said that i had wired up the lights wrong causing a short that fried the ecu. is this possible. if i wired them up wrong causing a short wouldn't that pop a fuse or something. the lights all worked correctly. i do know that right after i had the car he ha changed the fuel injectors to gsr when he installed them the car wouldn't stay running at idle it would die. the idle adjustment was all the way adjusted so he advanced the timing so the car would stay running. the other thing is that his swap has a bunch of jerry-rigged wiring that would be questionable. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Headlight wiring would not damage the ecu. It would pop fuses if you shorted it.

He may have put obd0 injectors into a car that needs obd1 injectors. That would pop the ecu for sure, but obd0 injectors have slightly different clips so unless he modified his wiring I dont think they would fit.

Sounds like his car has a hack job wiring harness that killed his ecu

And when I say itll fry the ecu, I mean literally, skoke, burning, nasty smells, then poof no more ecu
