Maaco Auto Painting in my area, Fremont, Ca., is offering a 50% discount for all of their paint jobs including a "Presidential" 2 stage clear coat with 4 base coats of color. My paint has check marks and fading on the hood and the paint is just about worn to the metal on the fender and is inconsistent with patch marks. Wondering if I should just let them, Maaco, paint the whole car of let my friend professionally paint just the hood and fender panels at his shop, he's shop foreman for an auto body shop and will charge $550.

Anyone have any past experience having there Honda(s) painted at Maaco?

 

I've generally heard anything to do with MAACO was bad. I don't think I've really heard anything good about MAACO, but hey, I'm up for hearing some good stories about them for once.

I had an Audi A6, a girl rear ended me, had maaco do the repairs and paint...bad idea. I could have done a better job doing it myself. Save your money.

 

They only get like 30min to hr to prep a car to shoot. Usally its takes me a few days to a week to prep a car (granted I work by my self) but that should give you an Idea how its going to come out.

 

I say go for it with Maaco! Just because I want to see the outcome if it's good or bad. Hehe.

 

If you do all the body work and prep yourself their paint job should be decent.

 

Never heard anything good about MAACO. But that many coats and clear couldnt go badly right? Who knows. MAACO is like the McDonalds of Auto Body . Fast and Easy but makes you fat . You get me ?

 

Lol never heard that one but its on point. It doesn't matter how many coats are put on, but rather the prep work prior to putting it on...and the actual process of putting it on...the list goes on. BTW, the amount of coats are totally false advertisement.
