Hi guys first post here i hope this board is helpful!

My car has been having some sort of electrical problems. Sometimes i will be driving and the radio will stop working, headlights will dim and the odometer will drop to zero. Sometimes when this issue occurs the car runs fine but other times it wont rev high in the gears (approx over 4000 rpm). I think it is an alternator problem but im not sure, it has happened before and then came back to life all of a sudden which is odd.

Today i broke down just getting onto the highway and had to get it towed. The car is at my house right now so i might be able to fix a simple problem.

 

Have the alternator tested or voltage test it yourself. Also test the battery.

 

The odometer or tachometer? (the miles counter or the RPM counter) Either way, sounds like all paths are leading to a battery/alternator problem.

 

hmm i think its the odometer, the one that shows how fast im going

 

.....just start with the battery and alternator tests.

 

I just had the same problem and it was my alternator
