'95 Del Sol Possible Transmission Issue
Hello Honda-Tech,
I'm experiencing an issue with my car and I was hoping you guys could help shed some light on what it is before actually going to a shop. I'd also like to repair it myself if at all possible.
My car starts up fine and idles in park & neutral like normal, but once I switch gears to anything else I hear this grinding noise. It sounds so bad that I don't really want to attempt to drive the car. I did notice when I was getting help towing it back to my house that when I came to a stop via the brakes and put it into park. The parking gear didn't stop me from rolling like usual so I had to use the emergency brake to hold the car in place.
I checked under the hood and nothing seemed out of the ordinary and my fluid levels are all fine. The transmission fluid has a watered down red tint to it and it's texture doesn't feel rough at all.
Tomorrow I'm going to jack it up and see what I can see underneath it and I'll bring back some pictures to help aid in this diagnosis.
I appreciate any help you guys might have to offer!
Thanks

That was a expensive noise you heard regardless of what it is ,could be the impeller came apart in the torque converter ,check flywheel to convertor bolts just for grins, but do not throw a lot of money 💵at it ,it will cost more that you're little baby is worth, sorry,🚑and if you do get it rebuilt ,do not keep the car sell it ,and when you do ,never tell the buyer it has a rebuilt trans, the pros in the bis know to stay away, rebuild automatics are only as good as the guy who put it together !💣good luck, I had a 97 SI great car, till totaled it out
