ECU Opinion..... Mugen N1 or Spoon Sportscomputer ???
My friend owns a 97 JDM spec ITR with the following mods: JDM 4-1, HKS Hiper Exhaust, testpipe, Centerforce Clutch and Spoon flywheel.
Now he want to change his ECU but not yet decided between Mugen or Spoon.
What do u think guys?? Mugen or Spoon? Why?
N.B Dont mention Power FC , he wants something plug'n'play cause over here there is no one capable of tuning the Power FC well !!

I've used the Mugen ECU in my 97 ITR for about the last 2 years and really appreciated the difference recently when I put the stock computer back in to pass the VA Emissions inspection.
Speaking os which, I get to renew my License plates now.

They both have different features (programs) Spoon's vtec kicks in at 5200rpm while Mugen kicks at 4600rpm. Mugen and Spoon uses the same mother board which are particularly made by Honda race division. It has a very high processing speed for extreme race conditions. It is quite hard to say which one works better cuz depends what power band that you are aiming.
If your friend will be using the ECU for street and circuit so Spoon (sports) ECU will be your best bet since Mugen's ECU or Spoon (N1) are programmed for race use only. If he plan to have future mods like cams ....etc. mild tuning parts will still applicable with these ECUs but heavily tune parts will not work properly with them.

The chip they use is an OKI chip. What is made by Honda race division?? Stickers??
Best choice would AEM EMS, Hondata, Power FC or any other standalone that has a price that is within $200 of a Real Spoon or Mugen ECU.
i use a Kenji program ive found it to be very good for street\track ,do a search #s dont lie ! also would be much cheaper than a mugen\spoon
Can we start this again,
Does anyone understand the subtle differences between the Spoon N1 (sport computer?) and Mugen N1 ECU?
