Default DRL Light On

Hey guys, the DRL light is on in my 2004 Honda Civic. I know it's not the module because I soldered it already and even used another one to see if that was the problem. Any ideas on what it could be? I checked the fuses under the dash too. Thanks.

Details? The light is on all the time? In park? While driving? Any change depending on the lights (off/parking/on) you have switched on?

The DRL light is on all the time except for when I turn on my headlights, once I do that the light goes away. I'm really stumped.

‘‘Daytime Running Lights’’ Indicator - Canadian models only

"This indicator comes on when you turn the ignition switch to ON (II) with the headlight switch off and the parking brake set. It should go off if you turn on the headlights or release
the parking brake. If it comes on at any other time, it means there is a problem with the DRL. There may also be a problem with the high beam headlights."

1. Does your daytime running lights function properly; i.e., are the high beams at reduced brightness in DRL mode? In DRL mode, the high beam headlights operate in series and act as resistors to reduce the voltage to the headlights.

2. Turn on the high beams, are they at full brightness?

3. Have you tried new high beam bulbs?

The high beams are at full brightness and the DRL light does not turn off when you release the e brake. I have not tried new high beam bulbs but I don't think that would change anything, would it? This car is such a lemon!

You mean the DRL indicator is still on when you release the parking brake, right?

Are the the daytime running lights on at reduced brightness when in DRL mode?

Yes, the bulbs are sometimes the issue for the DRL indicator staying on. I post on another forum and that has been the case a couple of times for some Accords.

Yes the DRL indicator is still on when I release the parking brake. It usually makes a noise when you release the parking brake and that's when the lights turn on, but on this car it doesn't make that clicking noise. Do you know what I'm talking about?

The daytime running lights are not on at reduced brightness when in DRL mode. They are off.

But yah, I will swap the bulbs and let you know. Thanks.

Let me know. But, it does sound like the issue may be due to one or both of the bulbs.

Hey I just swapped both bulbs and still nothing. I noticed that there's this click when you put down the e brake on my other civic and this one is not making that sound.

Check the parking switch connector and wiring.

Wouldn't the parking brake light be messed up if it was this? It turns on and off correctly. I changed the regular bulbs I should add, I didn't change the daytime running ones. Were those the ones that I should have changed?

I forgot to mention that on my 05 civic the blue high beam indicator is present and on this civic it's not. Could that mean anything?
