Hey guys i just bought my first car. Its a 1990 Honda accord ex with 270000km. I have about $400 to spend in preventative maintenance, What do you recommend to do? . Do i need to check for specific failure prone components? Also how is its general reliability? Thnx in Advance!

 

Assuming the major maintenance has been completed (timing belt/water pump/etc) then I'd recommend looking at fluids (coolants, transmission, engine, brake, power steering, etc)your brakes, bushings, etc and identify worn out components.

 

Timeing belt and water pump if you do not know when they were replaced.

 

Thnx for the replies. The timing belt and water pump were replaced 40000km ago. So i dont think it would need changing now. Ill inspect and probably replace the fluids. Thnx Again

 

Hey guys, I drive a 90 Accord EX and is my first car, is it a problem when i'm driving before the car is warmed up and it slightly idle searches? Like between 100-150 rpms? once the car is warm, it only shakes, and is not audible.
