Default Passenger side inner CV Joint question

Hello to all,

Newbie here on Honda tech but not to accords. My daughter has put 250,000 miles on this baby and compression still up there on all cyl.

I normally do all my own work but neck fusion surgery has got that on stand by. I had to take her car to get a shop to put in a new cv joint. I now have a bad leak (1 qt every 4 days) that has gotten worse which she would not tell me. Question is why can I move the inner joint out up to an inch or more. I can push it in up to the tranny. Looks to me like they either did not adjust to proper length or spring clip has failed. What can anyone explain to me about these pics?

This is me pulling out and it will come a little more if I put heavy pressure by hands

Either the spring clip is missing or the axle is not all the way in.

The joint is designed to telescope, but there's a spring clip on the end that should keep it locked once you push it in. It's probably broken.

Thanks for the information. I thought it may be the spring clip and its been having a small sound somewhat like a bearing getting bad on that side. Daughter has been trying to keep me from finding out because she didn't want me spending money. The misfire codes has been bad enough lately.

Hope the shop helps out and all this isn't on me because its been three months.
Again, Appreciate the feedback.

Agree on missing or failed Circlip. Can purchase those from Honda for a buck each.
If the car has 250K miles and the EGR ports have never been cleaned then that may be the cause of your misfire codes.

*Hint, what year, sub model and engine does your car have?*
