What size front pinion bearing do I have? 5-speed transmission question
I'm considering putting a synchro kit in my H2U5 transmission (stock 5-speed) in my 93 Accord, since I already have the suspension apart, the rear mount off, and axles out.
Any idea what size the front pinion bearing is? It's a different rebuild kit whether the bearing is 62mm OD or 65mm OD (and a big price difference). See here:

check out majestic honda.com. you can at least use their parts diagrams to assist you. not sure if it will help
Thanks for the reply.
It appears that the 1990-1991 Accord transmissions came with the 62mm front pinion bearing and the 92-93 Accords use a 65mm bearing. These are the correct part numbers for the rebuild kits, including bearings, synchros, seals, and gaskets. This applies to both the H2A5 (DX/LX) and H2U5 (EX) transmissions.
1990-1991 H2: BK328WS
1992-1993 H2: BK387WS
Now my next question:
It is possible to know what year transmission I have (is there a code somewhere on it)? Obviously its not the original one that came with the car. I would like to have parts in hand before I tear into it.

So this is the tag on the transmission:
H2U5-5010230
Any ideas how to decipher this code? Just need to know what year it was. I searched but failed. Thanks.

So it turns out that my H2U5 transmission has a 62mm front pinion bearing. The H2A5 I have uses a 65mm front pinion bearing. I have no idea what determines the bearing size.
Luckily, i'm just going to use the housing from the H2A5 with my H2U5 gearset.

Finally got it all back together. In case anyone is trying this:
The countershafts are different depending on what size pinion bearing (62mm or 65mm) so they cannot be interchanged. Likewise, the total mainshaft length for the H2U5 and H2A5 are not the same. Therefore a H2U5 mainshaft cannot be used in a H2A5 housing, and vise versa.
I ended up building up the H2A5 mainshaft and countershaft with the H2A5 housings and the H2U5 differential. We will see if it works.
