Find the exact make, model, and year that the motor came out of and go to a parts store. They'll be able to pull it up in their catalog. That's how my lazy *** did it.
I had an issue where the the top bracket didnt even fit right. my alt wouldnt sit flush how its supposed to. Instead, it was a little crooked, which chewed belts. Get the right bracket for the motor and itll be fine.
It really doesn't even look like the obd1 B16 was used in North America. Unless you're in Europe or your engine was shipped from overseas, I feel like it might be an OBD2.
Are you sure that is is obd1/is there really any difference on this part of the block?
Edit: I really don't mean to sound condescending. I'm just hesitant for you to throw money at a problem buying parts that don't fit until you find one that does, so I'm trying to get as much information as possible to help us all troubleshoot the situation more effectively.

Yeah its and obd1 because i just finished the wiring harness. It was originally swapped into a 93 civic that's why its an obd1 B16.
You have to get the right bracket. Even if you use the matching bracket, you may run into clearance issues. When i got my b16 swap, and the top of the bracket would hit the corner of the intake manifold place. Or mounting surface. I looked at the stock gsr one i had on my other block and the supposed b16 one, and they are different. Maybe vtec heads are shorter than non vtec? im sure deck height has something to do with it.
I think i found the issue.. How to tell the difference between D-series & B-series alternators?
The easiest way to tell them apart is to look at the top mounting point on the alternator. The D-series alternators are threaded and B-series alternators are straight through.
I think this is a d series alternator even though i took it off my b20...
Yes, that photo above shows a "D" series alternator. The "B" series alternator will have the upper bolt hole cast at the 11 o'clock position instead of the 12 o'clock position as pictured.
The first photo has a cast upper alternator bracket and the pic above shows a stamped steel upper alternator bracket... either can be used without a problem.
Here in the US, the alternator that you need would be found in a '94-95 Honda Del Sol VTEC (DOHC 1.6L) or ANY '94-95 Acura Integra LS, RS, GS, or GSR (1797cc or 1834cc).
