Default ef hatch problems with blower.

Sp just to clear it up in case anybody saw my old log thread of my car this is not the same red hatch, ive had 50 cars since then and always regretting getting rid of it so i got a new one.

background- kid said heat never worked since he got the car he doesnt know why, he put a b20 in it and thats it. hes the second owner.

I got it about 3 days ago, the blower doesnt come on at all, i took a peek behind the glove box, the air duct is gone (lol?) and the plugs for the climate control were just hanging. so i plugged them in, no lights came on but i figured that could be a number of things. i turned it on and it came on but then shut off right away. now it wont come back on and i checked every single fuse, everything is good.

also while tampering i got the lights to come on but then they shut off again like the blower did (not at the same time as the blower). im assuming its unrelated.

I'm assuming the blower is bad? but the hell would anybody unplug the climate control and take out the duct and just leave it that way? 0_o.

any help is appreciated. thanks.

Did your blower blow the fuse as soon as you plugged in the climate control plugs? If so, the motor is pulling too much current and needs to be replaced.

You need a multimeter, oem shop manual, and duct or ducts l. If everything reads right according to manual then it's the blower or resistor. It will be blower if air blows then just randomly shuts off, if resistor problem then blower will only work on some fan speeds, but not all of tbem

no, it turned on and then it just turned off, but did not blow any fuses at all.

Check power to the switch, power in and power out. Advise getting a FACTORY service manual, it will be a big help. Good luck.

I don't know about these cars specifically, but usually fan speeds are set by the 1234 lever, but actually controlled by a resistor board somewhere. That's probably what has gone bad on yours. I need to research more.

Edit: found it.

My bad. Those are inductors, not resistors. I was drunk.

So the multimeter doesnt read anything. I mean anything in the whole car. I dont get it. Tested it on the battery and it works. It should read 12v from the plug shouldnt it?

Another update. Figured out the multimeter and checked discovered its not getting power at all. Neither is the radio harness. So i checked power to the blower fuse and im not getting anything.

if i understand correctly, you say your blower, lights and everything stop to work after a short time when your blower is plugged and running.

when your blower is unplugged, do lights and everything work ??
if yes, it could mean that the blower himself or blower harness is bad

No, my lights and everything work. my blower does not work at all. it was unplugged when i got the var, i plugged it in and it turned on for just a second and then **** off. it has not come back on since. i checked the power to the plug for the blower and its good. i hard wired the blower to see if it works and thats good as well. lastly i checked the power to the climate control (switch). and got nothing, so i followed that to the fuse box and checked the 30 blower fuse and that does not get any power as well...

Be careful going above the normal amperage fuse for a circuit, if there ends up to be a short you can burn up wires among other things..
