Sp just to clear it up in case anybody saw my old log thread of my car this is not the same red hatch, ive had 50 cars since then and always regretting getting rid of it so i got a new one.
background- kid said heat never worked since he got the car he doesnt know why, he put a b20 in it and thats it. hes the second owner.
I got it about 3 days ago, the blower doesnt come on at all, i took a peek behind the glove box, the air duct is gone (lol?) and the plugs for the climate control were just hanging. so i plugged them in, no lights came on but i figured that could be a number of things. i turned it on and it came on but then shut off right away. now it wont come back on and i checked every single fuse, everything is good.
also while tampering i got the lights to come on but then they shut off again like the blower did (not at the same time as the blower). im assuming its unrelated.
I'm assuming the blower is bad? but the hell would anybody unplug the climate control and take out the duct and just leave it that way? 0_o.
Did your blower blow the fuse as soon as you plugged in the climate control plugs? If so, the motor is pulling too much current and needs to be replaced.
You need a multimeter, oem shop manual, and duct or ducts l. If everything reads right according to manual then it's the blower or resistor. It will be blower if air blows then just randomly shuts off, if resistor problem then blower will only work on some fan speeds, but not all of tbem

no, it turned on and then it just turned off, but did not blow any fuses at all.
and yeah i have a multimeter ill check today after work, my worry is that if the multimeter shows its not even getting power then what else could it be?
update, so i dont have a multimeter but i did jump the blower to the battery and it worked. so its not the blower. obv its not getting power i just need to figure out why? and why did it for a second and then lose it?
I don't know about these cars specifically, but usually fan speeds are set by the 1234 lever, but actually controlled by a resistor board somewhere. That's probably what has gone bad on yours. I need to research more.
thanks for your help guys. im gonna go pick up a multimeter tomorrow to check the power. and ill also be putting my friend resistor from his ef in to test and see if it changes anything. will report back.
So the multimeter doesnt read anything. I mean anything in the whole car. I dont get it. Tested it on the battery and it works. It should read 12v from the plug shouldnt it?
Another update. Figured out the multimeter and checked discovered its not getting power at all. Neither is the radio harness. So i checked power to the blower fuse and im not getting anything.
i found a blown fuse, but its not located on the diagram under the latch, i took a picture of it. i also replaced and but nothing changed? anybody know what it is?
[QUOTE=ProjetEF;50072382]if i understand correctly, you say your blower, lights and everything stop to work after a short time when your blower is plugged and running.
when your blower is unplugged, do lights and everything work ??
if yes, it could mean that the blower himself or blower harness is bad[/Q
No, my lights and everything work. my blower does not work at all. it was unplugged when i got the var, i plugged it in and it turned on for just a second and then **** off. it has not come back on since. i checked the power to the plug for the blower and its good. i hard wired the blower to see if it works and thats good as well. lastly i checked the power to the climate control (switch). and got nothing, so i followed that to the fuse box and checked the 30 blower fuse and that does not get any power as well...
well i figured it out. apparently this is not my stock fuse box. that fuse i posted above is actually the blower fuse. i stuck a 30 in it and everything is fine. not sure of the details but thats def it.
