Icon2 1998 Accord 5spd, cold weather slipping clutch?

Hello all, my first post here so be nice, Ive been searching the web for a direction to go with my problem. I would conceder myself a expert on the 1992 accord 5spd, it was my first daily driver and i put 300k on the car with the original clutch, and never had to work on the transmission. So now i upgraded from the 1992 and got a 1998 accord 2dr EX 2.3l 5spd with 177k miles, original clutch. Im the second owner, my sister was the first. Ive been taking care of this car form day one. I'm the family mechanic, and have always worked on my own stuff.
So 2 years ago in the winter in Ohio, i noticed when the outside temperature got down to 20deg F or lower, I would think the clutch would slip very slightly. I drive like a grandma, very rarely do i push the car hard. So the best way i can describe this is when cold 2 years ago driving in any gear, if i drove easy there was no issue, BUT if i mashed the gas in any of the gears, the RPMs would increase about 200-500 without a noticeable speed gain. for awhile i just eased off the gas and eased back into the gas to speed up. Then i just said screw it and mashed the gas in 3rd or 4th to see what would happen. the RPMs increased about 500 and after a few seconds the rpms lowered and the car speed up. This is where I'm confused, I would guess that if it were the clutch were slipping due to worn clutch. that the clutch would continue to slip until I let off the gas. this is not the case. also when the car would warm up the problem would seem to go away.
fast fwd to this year, and the problem is the same but not it seems the symptoms do not go away with a motor that is warmed up. Ive not started digging into this yet, just trying to find a good place to start. it seemed any problem with my 1992 accord i could always find info on the problem on the Web, not so with this 1998.
The car drove great all summer, i could mash the gas and drive it like i stole it! but as soon as its gets cold 20 deg or so. I got to go back to driving miss daisy.
any ideas out there, Thanks for reading and sorry for the long post. just trying to give a very detailed description.

If you got 172k on the original clutch, its time for a new clutch.

And resurface the flywheel while you're at it.

yea probably time for a new clutch, wouldn't hurt to upgrade either. Stage one competition clutch works wonders.
