Need help swapping d16y8 into my 95 civic
What's up honda guys! I have a 95 civic 4 doors 5 speed. It had a d15b7, but the engine took a dump. Piston rod broke off and made two huge holes on the block. I got my hands on a d16y8 off a 98 civic coupe with automatic, I have both of engines out and ready to get some work done. I'm not a certified mechanic, but I'm a good at following instructions and learning new stuff. What would I need to do to swap that d16y8 into my 95 civic? I just want a daily reliable car that would last me for a while and I wanna do the swap the right way
Thanks !!
Thanks !!

People have done this swap before. You should do a little research.
You need to swap the D15 intake manifold and all sensors/wiring/injectors over for it to be simple.
If you want VTEC to work, you'll need to wire it and use a stock P28 ECU. I wouldn't recommend a chipped one.
Reuse your original trans. Re use your driver side upper engine mount.
Rewire the distributor or buy a OBD2 to OBD1 DISTRIBUTOR conversion harness.

Thanks for getting back to me. The d15 has vtec, but the d16y8 I got doesn't. Can I just swap the dissy from the d15 to the d16 or I really need to convert the d16 dissy to obd1. Do I really need to get a p28 ecu even if I transfer the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, alternator and dissy from the d15. I'm swapping the tranny, clutch, flywheel and axles hopefully I won't run into any issues
