Default Should I port/polish my S2 Ultra before install?

Well, I'm replacing my stock P72 head with one hand-ported by my local machinist (actually my friend had the work done but needed some $ so I bought the head), and I'm replacing my old Blox ITR rep manifold with an S2 Ultra Street mani. I was thinking I should at least check and match the ports at the flange of the manifold, but I honestly don't know enough about porting to go much beyond that. Should I clean up the casting on the stacks on the plenum end, or anything of the like? It's not some monster NA motor, just an 11.5:1 81x87.2 B18C1 that's in my autox car, with mild cams (Edlebrock 4730 for now), but going to something bigger after Christmas.

Any other pointers on install are welcome as well.

Well, Id check the sizing of the ports on both and see if they match.. If they dont, I would consider matching one of them. Make sure the gasket isnt small as well.

Just my 02

I did this with my manifold and ports. Just used sanding barrels on a drill and made a line and only went in 3/4" -1"

Yes, port matching is always good. If they are already close then no real need to.

Oh, and let me know when you sell those 4730's. I wish I would have got some before everyone sold out...

I gasket matched it to match my port job, there were a couple little spots to hit with a cartridge roll but it was pretty much good to go. I ran a flapper in the runners and bell mouths just to knock down the highest casting flash.

Will do. It'll be after Christmas before I can order cams, gotta do tires too so wait til the new year. I'm hoping they'll perform better once I can get to a dyno and really dial it in, but something's not quite right with the setup as it's been.

Casting quality is quite good, but there is still little flaws and casting nippless.

I smoothened all these down. Don't know does this make any difference, but it looks lot nicer, lol.
