Default 99 civic keyless entry help

The keyless entry works only occasionally. When it doesn't work, the locks don't work and the lights don't blink. The locks will work with the drivers door switch.

Check for broken/corroded wires in the passenger and driver door jamb connectors. It's an extremely common problem.

Yes. I think it's a rubber boot. Post pictures.

it was dark and rainy so i couldn't get pictures, but i think you are right. there was a break, though not all the way through, in the black wire. just by wiggling the wire it's working better.

there only seems to be the one break in a black wire in the driver's door, but it's a pretty confined space to work. Of course i can see there is a connector that connects to the door. is there a connector on the other side of the boot that i can unplug so i can get a look at the wires and make necessary repairs or do those wires run up under the fender or hood? thank you for the help on this.

De-pin the connector. More specifically, depin that one wire, and re-pin it.

I haven't tried this before. Would you suggest pulling the terminal from the connector strip both ends of the break then patch in a piece of wire at each end of the break or is there a better route?

Remove the pin from the connector. Cut the wire where it's damaged. Strip it back a little bit, crimp a new pin onto it, and reinstall it back into the connector.
