EM1 - suspension problems for over two years need help
ok... so i bought a em1 around 2 years ago and ever since i had it, i had suspension problems. every time i hit a bump there is a hard knock on the passenger side front and now its starting on the driver side. it feels as tho something is moving upwards in my suspension. i have replaced struts twice and now i have skunk 2 coilovers. i replaced sway bar link ends and also inner and outer tie rods. i am so fed that i am thinking about selling this car and be done with it. i was thinking though. can it be bad ball joints? someone give me some input on this plz.
Jack the car up, grab the wheel at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and rock it back and forth. If you get the knock, you'll know it's one of the ball joints. 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock will test the tie rods. To check suspension components, push down repeatedly on the corner you suspect is making the noise.

UCA ball joints should be tested with the car on the ground. LCA ball joints with the wheels off the ground.
If you have play while grabbing the wheel at 6 and 12...its likely your upper/lower ball joints.
Go on rockauto.com. Buy everything. New UCA's, and new lower joints, and new inner/outer tie rods. All of that should be under $300ish for both sides if you buy nice stuff. Check your bushings also.

Or sell me your broken EM1 for broken EM1 pricing. Eh? Cmon bro, we make deal. You throw in a few of the women. Eh?
Do your research.. the raybestos pro grade ball joints are worth the money.
To be honest.. all ball joints should be made like the pro grade!
And make sure to check your shipment. I got sent some lesser quality ball joint in a raybestos box. So make sure you check it when it com3s in. Im not the only one who has had issues with rock auto shipping wrong parts.

Absolutely. The liner or parts inside can wear out over time. The boot often never goes bad....unless someone used a pickle fork to seperate a joint...or it was damaged some other way.
You don't have to tell me that, I'm a firm believer of online oem part purchasing, cheap as hell and better than being raped by the local dealers. But everyone needs to makes sales too you know so I understand the price hike.
