05 Rsx type s k20a type r engine swap help
Okay so I have a 05 rsx -s with a blown k20z1 engine in it, I have a guy that will help me install a k20a type r but he says that the new transmission I have on the k20z1 will work on the k20a type r and my wiring will work plugged into a different ecu. Is this true? Basically I need to know what I need and don't need to swap my blown k20z1 with a k20a type r engine please help, thank you. Also he says he's professional and sent me pics of swaps he's done but I'm having trouble trusting him let me know what you guys think thanks again.

Your trans will bolt on to the K20-R. But your trans doesn't have a LSD so.... :'(
Why are you doing a K20R swap? Getting it cheap or something? Z3's and Z1's are all over eBay for like $1500ish. The R motor does make more power and is very well built. But you're not going to be using the car for track use...which I can predict due to your lack of interest in the LSD trans.
You just need to swap the long block into your chassis. Hopefully, it comes with the intake manifold and maybe the stock header. Everything will fall right into place. You can use the ITR ECU, but you will have a 110mph speed limiter that comes on all JDM ECU's.
Your car will also not pass emissions with that ECU...so hang on to your old one.
You can also buy a K pro.

the Z1 engine is so close the the TypeR you can use your stock ECU.
Is the K20A engine out of the 02-04 or 05-06 because they swapped engines and transmissions and if it's a newer R trans it will work fine. Hell an older one will work also you just need to rewire your VSS and get a converter or get kpro which you should want anyways.

I think you're wasting your money and time on an ITR swap. Why not just find a Z1 or Z3 long block and swap it in/have it swapped in?
Cause the guy I have helping me gets the engines cheap only 500 more than a z1 and I've always loved the Dc5 type r so if I had the engine that it had I'd be pretty close to ultimate happiness, so it's the direction I want my project rsx to go even if the engine isn't that different from a z1 just knowing I have the k20 type r will make me happy regardless of other people's views on my car, basically I just needed to know everything I would need or any problems I would come across doing this swap and build thank you.
