Vtec won't engage help please
Ok I got a jdm b16a... obd0 pr3 ecu.... And keeps throwing code 22 vtec oil pressure switch wires are good everything vtec works then it will just stop then I have to reset the ecu for it to work again any ideas?
Have you removed the vtec solenoid and spool valve assembly from the cylinder head? [It is much easier to remove if you remove the thermostat housing first. You will need two different "O" rings to reseal the housing to the cylinder head and the housing to the pipe that runs (behind the engine) to the water pump.] The Assembly is held on by three 10 mm hex head bolts. The bolts are near the bottom of the spool valve housing. There is one "O" ring consisting of three sections. The bottom section has a wire mesh screen affixed to the bottom section of the "O" ring. My "O" ring was totally flat and was leaking. The Solenoid is held on by three bolts. I suggest you disassemble the unit over a small pan or on a work bench. You will find an "O" ring below the solenoid, a metal disc with a small hole off center, a long plunger and a small spring at the bottom of the plunger. I removed all items and cleaned the brown gunk off all the components. Throttle body cleaner worked well for me. The honda "O' rings needed are:
Cylinder Head (2) is the area on a Honda Parts Site to view. Majestic Honda has a nice Website that allows you to lookup part numbers, availability and prices.
NAPA has a nice Website and they allow you to order parts for pickup at your local NAPA store. You pay for the parts when you pick them up. No handling of money online and I really like this. I don't know if NAPA stocks the two "O" rings and they might be dealer only. The prices are not bad for dealer items. The numbers are from a 1997 EX Accord as this is the model I own and I had the page open when I read your post.
The link for the page where I found the info below is:

15825-P0A-015 010 001 FILTER ASSY., SPOOL VALVE $11.62
36172-P0A-005 012 001 GASKET, SOLENOID BASE $2.80
I hope this helps. What is the exact code? Is it a P022 or something eles? What year is your Accord? Is your accord an inline four or V6? Is it a four speed auto? Are the emissions for 49 states or California? I need to find my Helm shop manual. There is a cleaning procedure for the channels leading to and through the VTEC rocker arms (if I remember correctly... it has been several months since I looked over this section of the manual).
Best of luck.

I know for my 1st gen b16a, I had to get NSX vtec solenoid gaskets/o-rings and they fit perfect. Not sure if anything else will fit a jdm vtec solenoid as they are a bit larger than the usdm ones. As for your issue, I'm not sure. Maybe low oil, check that faq

I had the same issue. Remove the solenoid and check the filter/gasket for debris. Mine was clean though. I wired the VTEC pressure switch and solenoid together and ran it to the VTEC solenoid plug. I still grounded the other side of the pressure switch to the Thermostat house. This solved it for me.

Check out FAQ and a link from Hondapartshero. Try this old thread from 2006 (if I remember correctly). Try this to start: [FAQ] "My VTEC doesn't work" - Honda-Tech

not necessarily.
22 is for the oil switch.
If the oil switch fails to operate, then you get the code 22.
Low oil capacity, old oil, dirty engine oil filter, and clogged vtec oil filter screen are all typical causes for sporadic vtec operation with -NO- CEL codes.
If these issues get extreme, (like the vtec filter screen gets REALLY clogged) then the code 22 may start to appear.
