Default Crome vs. Hondata on a B16B in a CRX

Hey guys!

So I'm basically wondering what to go with, Chrome or Hondata. Hondata is around $600 and Chrome is around $100. I've been searching and it looks like Hondata is more "User Friendly" atleast for the tuner. Also, someone recently told me Hondata isn't worth it if I'm not going to go turbo. So pretty much, is Hondata worth it or should i just go with Chrome?

Thanks!

Are you going to be tuning it yourself, or taking it to someone?

A mod list would be great to determine how much tuning you will really need to do.

If it is just I/H/E on a B16B, then chrome would probably be best since you won't really be able to tune in much NA on the street.

Its a toss up, when CROME works it works well. I used it for a while on an obd1 converted high compression d16a6 and it had good driveability but would NEVER idle evenly. I finally got mad and got a hondata s300 which works very well, idles perfect immediately and is less gimmicky. If this was not a daily driver i would probably still be using CROME, but driving it 5-7 days a week i want it not being gimmicky.

Hondata S100 is just under $200 and seems like it will do what you need for a non-turbo setup.

Crome is fine if you don't need the advanced features. But you need to realize Hondata is hardware and software vs Crome is just the software. With Crome you will need equipment to burn chips and datalog unless you spend another $250 for the Moates Demon. If you go that route you might as well get Neptune.

i have been using crome and tuned a lot of cars on it for about the past 8 years. It works good and i never really had an issue with it. i use crome gold as it runs the cars better than the regular crome map. I now have hondata S300 in my car and it i would not go back to crome on my personal car. Hondata is better all around. Save up and get hondata

Consider Neptune as well. Many satisifed users including myself.

Crome is not a good choice. It never was, and never will be. I probably have more tuning (and published work) on Crome than anyone else here, I do not and will not ever recommend it if you have another option.
FWIW, I preferred Neptune as a beginner, Hondata's UI has a sporadic navigation. But either will do the job.

I'm with vegasinvasion here. and note what muckman said. crome software is $100+. but then you need a chip burner and datalogger, and emulator to make it a million times easier for live-tuning, which is another $300+ just for the hardware.
get hondata, much better dollar for dollar.
the only time I ever recommend anyone ever using crome is if they'll be paying a reputable tuner with several years of experience with crome, simply because it'll be lower cost in the end for the customer. and only for setups under 300hp
