Default Looking for tuning advice turbo b18

Hey all looking for some advice to make sure I'm heading in the correct direction
I'm tuning myself and need help.

The setup
B18c 81mm cp Pistons flat top 9.8-10 compression
4.5 ptw
Itr head with itr cams stock cam gears retarded 1-2 degrees both sides
Due to decked block and head

93 octane

Had to fully advance dizzy to get my 16deg line up with Ecu

Turbo setup ram horn turbonetics 6162
44 tial gate--5lb spring spiking to 8lbs around 8k rpm

Ngk Bkr7

Afr super rich. 11.6-12 low cam and high

I have innovate egt monitoring cyl 3. Egt around 1070-1100 at wot. 800 low speed cruise.
80mph slightly higher than wot

Now to the issue at hand. I started out with a conservative map Atleast I thought around 1 degree per psi retard

Did a few pulls read sparkplugs read hot according to ground strap. Line near threads. But only getting 2-3 threads of color change
They read rich too
The plugs are showing pepper and shiny aluminum. Which is bad. No destruction of plugs or anything melting

Continued to pull 2 degrees at a time changing plugs each time and progressively got better results
I can see my timing line creep up to the bend on the strap

The timing just seems excessively low to me

The car runs good pulls good. Just seemed weird to me.
I've read where retarded cam timing can cause higher cylinder pressure. Could that be the issue ?

High cam.... Also I've checked to make sure there were no other corrections to change table timing.

Both my table and final timing numbers match exactly

Your timing numbers look extremely conservative. Did you disable the rpm based ignition advance table? The one that adds a set amount of timing on top of table timing at all times based on rpm. If so that needs to be added back into you timing table, witch I doesn't look like it is.

Maybe you have a mechanical timing issue? Did you lock the ignition timing when you set base timing? And how exactly did you retard the cam timing with stock cam gears?

On my setup I had to go with 8 heat range plugs even tho I'm not making a whole lot of power. With 7s I would get detonation even with conservative timing and fuel numbers.

Well I had the block decked and head decked. In doing so it mechanically retarded my cam timing. I will prolly end up having to get adjustable cam gears to get it back In spec. But for these purposes it shouldn't hurt anything.

I didn't disable ignition adjustment because when data logging my table timing and final numbers always matched throughout boost.

I did use the software to lock ign at 16 and use my timing light to line up with tdc since I'm using the adjustable timing light

Yeah I figured I need 8s. So I got those in now. And I'll do more pulls check plugs. It just sucks *** cause the 7s wee so cheap and I could cut them in half every few pulls. Now with the oridium 8s. I can't do that so many times.

I'm hoping that I'm really close now since I had the timing line near the bend of the 7. So I pulled another degree or so and now have 8s. And will see

I just wanted to make sure I'm headed in the right direction. .

Ya it sucks that NGK doesn't make cheap copper resistor type plug in an 8 heat range, but i run the NGK 8 copper non resistor plugs with NGK plug wires and don't have any interference issues with Neptune or data logging. Plus they are only like $2 a piece. I have heard of people having problems with non resistor plugs and hondata tho.

As far as I know the rpm based ignition table is always running in the backround unless you disable it. Hondata just probably doesn't show it in the final timing number. I know Neptune shows it in the actual timing value when I log it, because actual timing will be about 9 degrees higher then table timing at 7k rpm.

Well I'm running ECTUNE. I figured you needed resistor plugs regardless of platform. I'll look into those and I guess try them out. I'll dig lil more and see what I can find but I've not disabled anything regarding that.

take the car to the dyno to dial in the ignition timing. Your timing seems very low.
