Default Question about machining my zc flywheel.

I know a guy a napa who told me he could grind my flywheel down. But i have know idea how much i should take off? It will be for street/strip use. So what is a safe amount to take off. (I want it to last). My last question is how dose the flywheel come off? The engine is in my grage and the tranny is already off. Where do i go from there?

Thanks

cr-x si,

Funny you should ask...

Since your tranny is off

1. Look at your motor where you detached the tranny

2. The presure plate is what you should see

3. If I recall correctly removed the six star like bolts(criss-cross) holding the
pressure plate

4. The pressure plate will fall off along with the clutch disc.

5. The big disc with gears around it that is still connected to the motor is your
flywheel.

6. Unbolt the six bolts(criss-cross) in the center.

7. You might have to pry it off with a screw driver. Be careful it weighs 20lbs.

There you have it...as far as how much to grind...just bring it to the shop and they will grind it until they see no warps, etc...they should have all the specs, otherwise bring it to someone who has the specs and knows what their doing...

It's good that you are resurfacing the flywheel, beccause most people and shops won't do it (because there's no way for you to know if it was resurfaced), they will just lie to you and tell you they did it... that is why some people have problems with their new clutch...

Just don't forget to torque it to specs and use Locktite thread sealant!!!

make sure you use 12 point socket on the PP or it wont fit but if you made it fit it would strip.....
