Clanging sound by right side wheel
Hey guys I just started having a loud clanging sound around my front end. I know I have a bad wheel bearing needing to be replaced, and I just replaced my passenger side axle. It makes a loud clicking sound, but only when I left off the gas or coming to a stop holding in the clutch. The sound stops when I give it gas or when I hold the brake. When I go slow the clicks go slow. I keep thinking my front end is going to fall apart when I'm driving. Any help appreciated.
How bad is the bad wheel bearing?
I would start there.
When you are coming to a stop in gear, the axle provides some force that is probably helping the hub not flop around in the wheel bearing. That might be why you hear sounds when you do the same, but out of gear.
Same with the brake. The caliper might be holding the disc+hub just enough to keep if from making noise.

Most shops will give you a written estimate though. In that estimate it will state what parts they plan to replace.
"Oh its gonna cost that much! I am going to have to wait till next pay check."
Drive off and go replace what the estimate says.
