I'm wondering if I could benefit from a different intercooler... Currently I'm running a single back door intercooler, 24x8x3.5" Garrett core, with 2.5" inlet/outlet. Now the end tanks are completely square and the turbo compressor connects straight into the back door inlet. Would it be beneficial to switch to an intercooler with angled tank design and lose the back door? I figured it would be a bit less turbulent and might see some improvement from it.

My main motivation for it is I would like to buy a JDM bumper for my car and would love to avoid hacking it up like my current set up requires. JDM bumpers aren't exactly cheap.

 

Anything that smooths out airflow will be beneficial. Unless there's some fancy trickery going on inside those end tanks, yes, better tanks would be beneficial. Would you notice the difference? Doubtful, off the dyno.

 

I had one similar and it worked out well for me.

No, you probably wouldnt be able to notice. Add another .5psi and it'll compensate the 'inefficiencies' of your IC
