Default Swapping GSR into 1st gen CRV and want to keep A/C.

Right now I have a GSR that I want to drop into my 1st Gen CRV. The GSR does not have an A/C Compressor on it. I was wondering if I could just get an R12 compatible compressor (what the GSR originally came with) and connect it to all the stock A/C components of the CRV.

If not, which compressor, brackets, lines, etc. do I need to make this work?

If you went to R12 you would be asking for major issues.

I don't understand why you think you need something other than the B-series A/C components that the CRV comes from the factory with. You should be more concerned about the NON-VTEC to VTEC head differences in power steering pumps... that will be your issue although not a big one. A couple ways to do so.

use the stock crv a/c components but get a bracket for a b series vtec car, gsr/b16...
this is the only issue you will get if you want to still have a/c

Thanks qwrty. So I can just use the AC compressor thats on the B20 with all the ac components that come on the car as long as I get a gsr bracket?

The ac bracket for the crv is for a b-series..........but can only be used for the crv and civics that people are doing a b-series swap. Why would you need the gsr bracket if you're putting the gsr into the crv? The compressors are different, look it up.

I used all my stock B20 A/C stuff on my GSR and now on my JDM B20 block... Keep all components the same and you will have no issue.

let me correct myself... i was thinking bout the p/s bracket.... coz thats one issue when you do
a vtec swap for our crv's... (apologies for mix up)
i think you can use the gsr bracket or just use the one from the CRV itself....

good luck!!

Yes, the power steering brackets are completely different unfortunately. You must use the head specific bracket or customize your own. The power steering pumps are slightly different as well IIRC. You must cut out the bottom of the GSR power steering bracket like a elongated open slot and ream the hole some for proper belt adjustment with the CRV pump.

Or run the integra p/s line and use that? I haven't confirmed it but swapping the line should work right, or is it a different fitting?

I am not sure. Definitely and interesting thought to put considerations into. I just modify the bracket and go on my way since it is quick and easy, but I don't care for how it looks either. Try it and tell us LOL!

as far as what im using in my crvoostec... i used all crv parts(a/c. p/s components) except for the
power steering upper bracket w/c came from a typeR head that i slapped, we custom made a turbo
manifold so as not to hit the upper hose of the a/c line... a/c compressor is the same so as the bracket,
i think em1(civic ek Si) and crv share the same a/c bracket part no.
whatever block you use.. LS/typeR/gsr just use all crv components except for the upper p/s bracket
that should be the same or would come from the vtec head...

just to clear it all up, for power steering, you will need the top bracket for the the head you are using , the bottom bracket from any b series its all the same, for the power steering pump you will need an integra you need an obd2 large port power steering pump

for AC the crv uses a D series pump, so you will reuse the original b20 bracket and pump and put it on the gsr block

Why can't he reuse the same ac compressor that came with the crv AND use the b20 bracket? Spending money where you don't need to.
