Default EG Wagovan- Would you drive it?

Well, I'm aware of the Honda Orthia and the Aerodeck, but I thought it'd be cool to design an EG "Wagovan," so to speak. It's very crudely designed, as I did it in the hospital room waiting for my wife to be released on MS Paint. I used to find these blueprints back when I was into Lowriders and put crazy paint designs on them and give them the appearance of being shaved and slammed. Anyway, I found blueprints for an EG Ferio, as well as a hatch and put the two together. I think this would be a cool project for someone with a couple wrecked cars. I do have a sedan sitting in my back yard...

Originals

Then modded them

And of course, lowered.

Let me know what you guys think of these crude drawings! I might find real pictures and try to shop them together.

At this stage this is more of an appearance thing with a little photoshop work.

I am going to move this to the appearance section and if you decide to do this as a build you will still have the resource available to drag into a build thread.

The seating capacity of a sedan, with the cargo capacity of a hatchback, and none of the functionality of a wagon. It might look interesting, the same way an Integra front end looks interesting on a 5G, but...it's completely devoid of any functionality.

Isn't the seating capacity of a sedan, and the cargo capacity of a hatch the point of a wagon? Not defending my case, just curious as to yours. How would it not have the functionality of a wagon? It would literally be just an updated version of an EE Wagon. I'm not sure if you've ever been inside or seen an EE wagon up close, but they don't have room in the back from front-back, but from top-bottom is where the wagon makes up for the space. You can stack stuff high in a wagon, as well as put the back seats down. That is literally the point of a wagon.

Not arguing, just curious as to your thoughts.

EE's are old. You're talking about doing this with something more modern. Whenever someone tries to make something new, they should always compare it to their main competition. In this case, and in that year range, the main competition for what you want to make would be a Subaru Legacy.

Those pictures are both of a 1998 Legacy. If you wanted a wagon in the late 90's/early 00's, you either got a Legacy, or a Volvo estate if you had more money than style. Comparing your drawings to either a Legacy or Volvo estate, though, there's just no other way to say it - the cargo capacity ***** on it.

I own both a 98 Civic sedan, and a 99 Legacy Outback. I am also an avid skier. As a point of comparison, when I decide to take the Civic up the mountain, I have to lay down the back seats, and my skis will still completely block the front arm rest and parking brake, and make it extremely awkward to shift. When I take the Legacy up, I can just fold down the back seats, and slide my skis, as well as my friends' snowboard gear in without even having to adjust the front seats. You wouldn't even know they were there until you looked in the rear view.

The only way I could see something like your idea being remotely competitive in it's target market would be if it lengthened the rear, and even then, it would be a tough as hell market to break into back then. Seriously, Subaru and Volvo had that **** on lockdown.

Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting thought, and design-wise, it looks good (visually appealing) for that year range. It's just not a fully fleshed-out thought from a marketing and functionality standpoint.

I don't think this is about marketing but about someone taking a couple of wrecked cars and making a one off

Wow this blew up bigger than I thought! Well I do have a sedan in the back yard and some hatch quarter panels from a previous resto I didnt get around to so I started cutting up the sedan. I've been super busy with my job (medic in the Army!) as well as having a preggo wife, an EE wagon, and an '08 WRX sedan. Im pretty busy but if I do decide to actually make something of this, I'll start a thread!
