Icon2 Flat Black Hoods

I really don't understand the recent explosion of flat black painted hoods on cars that aren't flat black (white, red, silver, etc). Like seriously, I see it all over Instagram, Craigslist, etc. I hope this isn't a ricer thing, to look like carbon fiber from a distance...

my hatch will be panda, white on top, black below the trim, so I may consider doing that, not flat black though, why people want their cars to look like a school bus is beyond me, it's also an aircraft thing to paint the top of the cowl black, to stop glare

Well, this "trend" you're seeing isn't really new at all. Its been around for many years. I wouldn't think its going to be gone anytime soon either, given just how long its been around.

A couple thread examples:

Most people have flat black hoods because 9 times out of 10 they replace the hood bc of dents and such alone with fenders and front bumpers for same reason. And most people don't have the funds to get them painted. A new hood from certifit is like $100-$150 bucks. So most people would rather drive around with a nice flat black hood them a hood that is all chipped and dented. I rocked it for a while on my old crx that was freshly painted hahaha because after i got it painted someone decided to sumo slam someone on my hood and never found out who it was. So i replaced it and never painted it..

I thought people painted them black to make them look carbon fiber.

Agree 100%

Kinda how stretch/hella Flush isn't going anywhere either. So stop calling that a trend as well.
