Shakey at 40mph
I have a 2004 civic, auto trans w/ 178k mi. When cruising between 35 and 40 mph, something shakes in the front of the car. Letting off or stepping on the throttle immediately stops the shaking. I changed front and rear motor mounts (the front one was broken) but this did not fix the problem. Car has new tires and front end checked out ok. Struts changed at 100k. CV joints changed at 95k. I don't feel it in the steering wheel so I am thinking trans issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Torque converter judder sounds most likely since there is no feed back through the steering. I know Honda has had problems in this area. How can I check this and is it possible to repair myself?
