Default 2002 Honda Civic EX Engine Shake Problem

2002 Honda Civic EX 1.7liter VTEC
Roughly 140,000 miles.

Hello,
A couple months ago i drove my car across the state with no problems and went inside a building for a few hours, when i returned to my car when i started it the engine started to shake really bad. The check engine light came on and began to blink, i restarted several times and the problem still was occurring. I took it and had the code read after i decided i needed to drive it down the road to have that done and get parts if necessary. They read the code and cylinder 2 was misfiring and advised i should change the spark plugs or spark plug coil cause that could cause the problem. I changed the spark plugs since its cheaper and they needed changed. The car began to run find back home and for 2 months after. Just this last week the problem is back, except it only does it after the car has sat for about an hour or more and its running at idle. If i increase the RPM of the car the shaking stops, or if i drive the car. I drove it to the parts place and after arriving the car was no longer shaking even at idle. I am very confused. As i was driving back home i would get to stop lights and be at a stop and every once and while a slight shake/bump would occur with the engine. I am very confused what it would be. I spoke with a parts guy and he said it would be a coil, the boot on the coil, spark plugs problem with oil or gas over taking the spark plug. Has anyone had this problem, or have any good ideas of what it could be so i can try to minimize the money spent to fix it. Thanks for your help!

The only way to properly diagnose this is if you had access to a scan tool that has misfire counter. Since the plugs are new, you would be able to sway the ignition coil to another cylinder and see if the misfire moves with it. If it doesn't your next step would be to move the fuel injector.

From what you're saying and my experience, I am leaning toward a leaking fuel injector. Have had this problem at work a few times where basically, the engine would only misfire on start up and run fine once the motor had warmed and you accelerated it.
