1997 Honda Civic Ex, Misfire and EGR blockage
Took the civic into autozone to get the check engine light diagnosed. Came back with this:
P1399 :: Blocked EGR passage
P0304 :: #4 Misfire
P0302 :: # 2 misfire
P1300 :: Multiple misfire
Looking at the forum it sounds like a common problem. Seems like replacing the spark plugs, and plug wires would be a good start. Wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what worked, saw lots of posts about the problem but not as much about what people did that worked.
Also wondering if cleaning the EGR is worth it (and how) or if replacing it is needed.
Thanks

Re: 1997 Honda Civic Ex, Misfire and EGR blockage
I should add that the car has 138xxx miles and the check engine light has been on constantly for the last few months (assumed it was the 02 sensor, bad assumption). The car seems to be running fine and doesn't seem/feel like it is missing at all. I was surprised by the codes.

P1399 is also a multiple misfire code. The HX not the EX has an EGR system. Start by replacing the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.
