Default turbo b16/18

I have read the stickys! Not sure if I missed it or it wasn't covered, I have read that the reduction in compression ratio means this is a good base for a turbo, but I'm on a bit of a budget and dont want to spend money where it isn't necessarily needed, what I'm wondering is, will the factory ecu handle low boost levels? Say 5-8psi? And I've heard the fuel system is another weak link, so will that also handle low boost levels? anything else I've missed? Oh I'm only really aiming for around the 200hp Mark, nothing crazy yet till funds will allow haha cheers!

What is "this"?

and no, the stock ecu won't work for anything boosted... the ignition timing and fuel maps are totally wrong and if the ecu sees even .01psi from the map sensor it will throw a cel and put the car into limp mode. not to mention the OEM injectors and pump won't support any kind of power increase like that and you can't run larger injectors on a stock ecu... it wouldn't even idle properly if at all.

read the FAQs again

the basics are as follows

chipped OBD1 usdm ecu
dsm 450cc injectors
resistor box
walbro 255
wideband
stronger clutch
ARP headstuds and OEM headgasket (depending on engine mileage these are safe insurance)

then your prerequisite turbo stuff... manifold, turbo, wastegate, downpipe, exhaust, blow off valve, intercooler, intercooler piping, boost controller, boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, wideband.

and the most important part.... A PROPER TUNE. at least if you want it to be drivable and reliable. the basic saying is this:

cheap
fast
reliable

pick two because that's what your build will end up being. The first two will end up being very very very expensive.

...What part of "read the FAQ sticky" did you not understand? We don't exist to hold your hand through this. The information is all there for you, you just have to make the tiniest bit of effort to read it.
