Icon2 2nd gen CRX with F series or B series?

hello, this is my first time on Honda tech,

I have a 1990 Honda crx DX with a OBD1 D16z6 in it now... my dad has a 98 accord with a sohc vtec F23a... I don't know much about these engines, would it be worth it putting that engine in a crx for drag racing... how do they work with aftermarket parts and turbo?

I also can get a OBD2 Integra LS DOHC B18B1 for my CRX, would that work better with performance parts and turbo?...

witch would would be a better fit for my car, if I wanna use it for drag racing and try to get under 12.0 in a quarter mile and for as cheap as possible...

Out of those choice and for your low cost budget, the B18 is my choice.
BTW: Motors are not OBD anything. The sensors that you hook up to them define what OBD they are.
You can run that B18 as OBd1 and have a wide open world for tuning selections.
You should be able to hit your goal pretty easily - I think 12sec can be had with something like 250~270hp???

so my car right now has a obd1 setup... the b18b1 came off of a 96 gsr integra "obd2" if I put the b1 in my car that's a obd1 setup... would I have to change any sensers or anything?

thanks

B18B1 from a GSR? That's not the right engine for that car.

You might have to change some plugs here and there, but all the sensors from OBD2 are compatible with OBD1.

Not trying to be mean, but the easiest way to get answers to these questions you are asking is to Google them. Seriously.

1. b18b1 needs different mounts. ebay search some innovative B-series into EF mounts.
2. That f20 out of your dads accord is slow. Much more potential with B-series.
3. B18B1 comes either OBD-1 or OBD-2. If it is in a true GSR shell, you can swap pretty easily, just use OBD-1 distributor into your CRX.

But seriously you can find the same solid info to these simple questions with google. Quicker than waiting, too.

Agree with sodaZC, google is faster. But sometimes you can't search the 'right' words and you don't get anything.

As for what you have, the LS motor (B18B1) is perfectly fine. Start searching turbo set ups and as long as you have a healthy motor, you should be able to hit 12.0 in the 1/4. Start looking at the forced induction subforum.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'performance' parts. I'd stick with the LS block, mini-ram/log manifold, T3 or T3/T4 turbo, 2.5" or 3" downpipe/full exhaust, drag coilovers (at least stiffer than stock), traction bar or new spherical joints, slicks (might get away with some street tires), and fill in the rest. Piecing together a turbo kit would be the cheapest way to go, preferably used parts. Be prepared to do a lot of work yourself and start looking for a tuner and find out what they prefer to tune on (platform/software).

A video of a car going fast...

Just like that car, there is much more done to that car than just a SOHC accord F22. If you want torque, boost or displacement. The H23 blue top motor is quite potent. Not sure about how deep into the 12's you could possible get.
