Default 98+ "improved specs" applies for brakes?

I'm well aware the ITR's of 98+ got some improved parts over their 96 counter-parts, but one thing I'm not too sure of is the brakes. Some say all R's have 282mm(11.1'') brakes up front and 260mm(10.2'') in the rear. Then you have others saying the 96 specs are smaller? all I know is I have just over 11 inch rotors... so I'm guessing "98+"(if that's a thing). or is it like the EX vs GSR brakes same rotor size but different caliper(piston/pad are bigger). if so how could I tell by looking at the caliper?.

thanks

For USDM, the brakes are the same for all years.
For JDM, 96spec has smaller brakes (rotor and caliper) while the 98spec has larger brakes that are the same as USDM.

Ahh ok makes sense thanks!, I guess you can measure the rotor and if the front is 11.1 you're all good? as in you wouldn't have the "smaller" ones. these are some of the best brakes i've had, they're coupled with hawk HP+.

cliffs: if my rotors are 11.1''(they are) I couldn't have the smaller 96-spec calipers?.

What's the lug pattern? 5x114.3 means you'll have 98-spec/USDM size. If 4x114.3, then they're the smaller size, unless they're converted to the larger size.

My thread on how to do just that:
