Ok, we all know that noise that the ABS gives off when we first start moving in our DC2s. The weird thing is, I have a similar noise that happens when I turn the ignition off. It's not exactly the same sound. Imagine the wing flaps of a plan moving...that's what the noise sounds like.

I've gotten over the buttload of sounds that the ITR makes but this one is strange since I haven't heard anybody else bring it up about their cars.

Any ideas?

 

I've heard this mysterious sound before too. I've never thought much of it, but now that you brought it up I'm curious as to what it is.

 

that just noise coming from the intake, kinda like faint *sh00000* sound. It's more noticeable w/ aftermkt intakes.

 

The sound I'm refering to sounds like a mechanical sound, not an air rushing sound.

 

yah i was thinking the same thing ... yet the sound they described sounds different ... hmmm.

 

If it kinda sounds like "ehhnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnt", Ive heard it before. My R and Prelude both did these after turning off the ignition sometimes.

 

Yup, that's the sound. Well, I'm not worried about it anymore since it seems to be normal.

 

Radio Antenna

 

Radio antenna is already down before this noise occurs.

 

nope, i get the sound too, and i don't have an antenna.

 

its pretty normal, most of the DOHC VTEC cars do this...

 

So the question now is, where is the sound coming from?

i don't know what it is, but mine seems to make it most right after I lower the car off jackstands or after I close the trunk *shrugs*

 

I think it is the Flux Capacitor winding down

 

Do your door locks automatically unlock when the car is shut off...

 

I get the sound too.. but only sometimes... it's like a light hum right only for a few seconds then it stops?

 

Yes, my alarm locks and unlocks the doors when I turn the car on and off, respectively.

 

I beleive it's the HVAC system closing the flaps. Not sure where I got this info, just seem to remember it from another thread.

 

hvac doesnt move the flap unless you push a button on the climate control

 

The noise happened to me 3 times today when I ran errands during lunch. I think it was coming from the rear. I'm thinking it might be the fuel pump but that's just a stab in the dark.

 

probably just the exhaust.

Now that I think about it, I remember hearing it usually when I shut the door after getting out of the car. It has definitely been coming from the front of the car.

Kinda sounds like a fart, a high squeaky one

 

This should fix it...won't hear that sound anymore.

JN who stopped trying to find every little noise the R makes...although the Hiper Ti made a lot of them undiscernable.

 

I belive it is the fuel pump - I haven't listened for it in my R yet but I have heard it in other cars. I am pretty sure it's the fuel pump or something having to do with the fuel system (FPR, etc).
