b18 bottom end rebuild
Hi, so I bought a b18c2 bottom end quite cheap and found out it has done 250,000 kms! So my plan was to rebuild it for my b16 but what I'm wondering is, with that many kms on it what else apart from all the rings, bearings, pistons and gaskets do I need to buy? I don't have the engine stripped down yet so it's hard to say wether it had a hard life or not... But with so many kms is there anything I should be doing? Balancing the crank? Replacing the rods? Should the oil pickup be fine? Any help would be massively appreciated! Thanks in advance!
with that many miles, oil pump, water pump, timing belt and tensioner, along with the things you mentioned already. if you are staying stock, i wouldnt worry about the rods and pistons unless they damaged.
Yeah I was going to get the block bored out 20thou because I read that was good for cylinder wall straightness, then honed and acid washed, the block is bare so I'll need all the pumps and pulleys I'm hoping my air con compressor will bolt onto the b18 block (summer is hot here!) But I'm thinking about deleting the power steering while I have the engine out.
